Description
One of the very first serial (6.4mil) Submariner 16800s produced.
This model, unveiled in Basel in 1978 and marketed from the following year, is distinguished from its predecessor by the use of sapphire crystal. Until about 1985 it will be produced with a rare transitional dial, with matte varnish and generous tritium markers, called Pallettoni or Matte dial.
This particular example is complete with its original kit (box, warranty, tag, wallet bearing serial numbers and calendar of the time).
